Chinese Medicine
Chinese herbal medicine is one of the world's oldest continuously practiced
systems of natural therapy. From the earliest times, traditional Chinese medicine has formed a strong philosophical basis for health and disease, with treatments ranging from herbal medicines to acupuncture, moxibustion and massage techniques. Chinese herbs can successfully treat a wide range of conditions without the potentially toxic side effects of modern drugs. Herbal formulas are particularly effective in the treatment of skin disorders, digestive problems and any debilitating chronic illness. Boiling prescribed herbs or making a decoction is the traditional method of preparing herbs and it is still a very popular method of preparation.
However, for people who find boiling herbs inconvenient, Chinese herbal treatment
comes also in Concentrated Herbal Extracts.
These are developed by using
first grade Chinese herbs which have been processed and concentrated
into powder (or granule) form. The advantage of raw herbs and single herb extracts over fixed formulas, is that with single herbs, specific ingredients can be combined or adjusted at different stages of the healing process to suit the clinical pattern of a particular patient. Chinese herbalism is also concerned with prevention and maintaining good health outside times of illness, and for this reason a growing number of people are choosing to use herbs in their daily lives.
