Acupuncture for Infertility

Acupuncture is being used with growing frequency today as a viable aid to improve the chances of conception. In Chinese Medicine, infertility is seen as an imbalance of energy within the body which needs to be regulated. Acupuncture can restore the body to its natural balanced state, and help increase the chances to conceive and to have healthy children.
Most cases of infertility can be treated with acupuncture and herbs, and the treatment can be safely combined with other western medical treatments. Research suggests that acupuncture can be helpful to couples undergoing in-vitro-fertilization (IVF). According to Dr Li, acupuncture can increase IVF success rate by up to 65% (this figure is supported by studies in four western countries, British Medical Journal, 2008).

Acupuncture can also be used to help male reproductive function. Acupuncture combined with herbal medicine may also be used to help increase sperm count, sperm quality and improve male infertility due to impotence.
