Women's Health

You Xia Li is a highly experienced Doctor of Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture, with extensive knowledge of western-chinese medicine. Based in Randwick, Sydney, for the past 22 years, Dr Li has successfully treated thousands of patients

in Sydney's eastern suburbs for a wide range of women's health issues.

Chinese medicine can be beneficial in many areas of women's health including reproductive health and fertility, pregnancy and post natal support, and relief from menopausal symptoms. It can also be used to help regulate menstrual cycles and relieve symptoms of polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) and endometriosis.

Chinese Medicine takes an holistic approach to women's health, focusing as much on the prevention of an illness as it does on the treatment of the illness itself.

An interesting study assessing the effect of Chinese herbal medicine (CHM) in the management of female infertility and on pregnancy rates compared with Western medicine (WM) treatment, showed very promising results for Chinese medicine. It included 40 RCT's (Randomized Control Trial) and 4247 women with infertility. Trials included women with PCOS, endometriosis, anovulation, fallopian tube blockage, or unexplained infertility. Results indicated Chinese herbal medicine could improve pregnancy rates 2-fold compared to Western medical drug therapy in the treatment of female infertility, boosting pregnancy rates from 30% to 60% over 3 to 6 months.

In using Traditional Chinese Medicine to treat women's health issues, Dr Li examines the principle causes of the disorder, and approaches treatment through an assessment of the overall state of the patient's health and well being.
